They merge and swirl and form a languid spiral
Rotating slowly rising in the well

I see blood cells dividing endlessly
Swimming in from the endless sea
Hello aerial salmon ballet
Swimming up this churning Milky Way

Hello luminous healing angels
Hello nebulous octopus stem cells
Hello coal mine escaped canary
Hello our little boat house on the prairie
Hello waving sea anemone
Hello Heaven has got a chimney

I dip my pail, bring it back up full
Then I stroll right back to that hospital
With this dazzling medicine
Sloshing at my side

She looks into the pail
Then quizzically to my desperate eyes
Back into the pail
She thinks that I’m crazy
But then she smiles
Like she hasn’t smiled in quite a while
